Then, what is the point...??? (I assume you meant, "still
quality", perhaps...? ;-)

I do too tire of recommending it...! ;-)
But it is one of the few WA converters that
works well on most everything from the lowliest
1-chipper to the VX2000, and is one of the widest
(though it will zoom only about 2X from WA...).
The Kenko should be "zoom-through", but often these
are not optimum near one end or the other of the
zoom range...

A "step-up" ring can be used, often with the advantage
of having a wider range of accessories available.
The disadvantage is that on the tiny camera some of the
better WA converters can be rather large. I just bought
the excellent Sony VCL-0737HG-X, but it is almost
too large/heavy on the TRV30 it is made for. Matching
a larger WA to a smaller lens is less a problem than
the other way around - and good optical matches are hard
to predict...

It is zoom-through... BTW, I did not like this converter,
since it was not sharp enough for me at the WA end, and
I returned it...
