The Canon is optically very fine, and the Century
(and Sony's own "HG" version) is likely at least
twice the price. Did you notice any differences
on tape with the Century? BTW, my favorite for
the short half of the zoom range of the VX2000/
PD150/DSR250 is the Raynox .66X - it is a touch
better in the corners than the Canon, with less
linear distortion, for about 1/2 the price of the
Canon (but it is not without its negative
aspects, especially in the long half of the
zoom range where others are superior...).
