Vivitar did make an interesting flash (5600, I think...) that had a Nikon
ISO-type TTL shoe, but it allowed ASA setting on the flash, so the optional
F3-ISO TTL shoe adapter would provide TTL flash control with the F3 with
this flash - but the adapter would NOT provide TTL flash adapting for
other ISO-shoe TTL flashes. Various other makers made F3 TTL-shoe
flashes, also.
