The amp used for the headphones and small built-in speaker
is noisy, especially with high output levels selected.
Audio from the line outs (RCAs) is quieter, but setting
unrealisically high manual gain levels will also result
in noisy audio. Set for correct input/output levels and
monitored on good audio gear, you will most likely not
find excessive noise in the recorded tape. Perhaps some
faulty units existed, but my two are not, and are quiet.
