It's best not to write from "second-hand experience", when
possible...;-) The noise level in manual-mode is comparable
to most other Mini-DV camcorders; the noise level in AGC
mode is considerably lower than in other Mini-DV camcorders;
the AGC works VERY well, with minimal artifacting; if you
reduce the manual level to avoid clipping loud sounds, the
noise level is then comparable to the AGC; once you have
used the excellent VX2000 AGC, you may never return to
manual-mode, except possibly for carefully-rehearsed shoots.
The overall sound quality capability of the VX2000 is
excellent, but using it optimally sometimes requires an
understanding of its quirks...
