I briefly tried an 822 on a TRV900, sounded great - though
I did not try it with loud sounds which can cause problems
with the AGC (and noise) when gains are not matched well...
Mic pads of various values can be made if the mic output is
too high (if too low, this requires an amplifier, complicating
things...).
