The headphone amp itself has considerable noise; most
headphones have HF peaks and roughness in HF response,
exaggerating noise; if there is no bothersome noise
at the line-outs for normal playback levels, don't worry
about it...

Noise level generally goes down when mics are added - the
circuit is designed to be "loaded" with the mics for
lowest noise...

more - there is a LOT of misunderstanding about this.
The VX2000 audio circuits are not as good as the medium
allows (in common with all others), but they are adequate
for most video work, especially if used with some
understanding of their operation and how to optimize
results...
