The "VX-2000 audio hiss problem" I suspect is a recurrent,
hard-to-kill rumor at this point. I have yet to hear from
anyone who has had the problem (assuming they know how to
set levels, and monitor through the line outs). There is
considerable manual level-control range, the headphone
amp is noisy, and many headphones are peaked (and/or
rough) in response in the high end, so it is easy to hear
hiss (and even "popcorn" noise) when listening to the
VX-2000 audio in quiet surroundings with headphones.
Checking the noise level at the line outs with recordings
made under normal conditions should show a quiet
background. It's time to put this rumor to rest...
