I did - you are quite right (I was fooled by the similarity
to normal hum), the noise is from mechanical pickup with
the tape in place and camera on in camera-mode... I was
unable to reduce it (other than by using the mic pad and
Cool Edit noise reduction, as mentioned before...) - I
tried mounting the mics on a side handle ("hum" + handling
noise), on a mic "standoff" in the camera shoe (no
improvement in "hum"), with rubber disks added to the
standoff (no improvement), and I'm wondering where to go
next... (I use two MKE300s, for "stereo"). Ah, well...
