Yes, AE-A does this with the VX-2000 (and the same for
shutter speed, in AE-S mode...). BTW, both cameras are
(critically) reviewed at:

My conclusion: the VX-2000 is a better buy for
both picture and sound quality. (I found both
picture and sound of the GL-1 under most conditions
to be near the bottom of the group of 3-chip Mini-DV
camcorders tried; they were near the top for the
VX-2000. Not "night-and-day" different, but enough
to separate them pretty consistently...)
