We were comparing VHS one-chip with Mini-DV 3-chip...;-)
But even with the above, it is easy to see the difference
between a low end one-chip Mini-DV, a "megapixel" Mini-DV,
and a good 3-chip Mini-DV camcorder picture - the first
is less sharp; the second is "busy"-looking; the third
has better color, a smoother and "quieter" picture, better
tonal range, and greater low-light range than the
one-chippers. Compared with VHS, the (good...;-) 3-chip
Mini-DV image will be very noticeably better unless
shooting conditions and/or viewing conditions are
"equalizing" things quite a bit...
