Hmmm....
I must be that "one particular individual"...;-)
I am totally mystified by the comments on these web sites...
Perhaps we are dealing with parallel universes...? ;-)
As I have noted several times, the unusual VX-2000 audio
characteristics take a bit of understanding in order to
get the best from the audio (it is very easy to mis-set/
mis-match things and get horrendous noise output, especially
through the headphone amp); at best, the VX-2000 audio is
not "pro" grade or equivalent to a good audio-only recording
device, and expecting it to be is unreasonable at this price
level - but the VX-2000 audio is high-average level for
3-chip consumer-grade camcorders (as is that of the TRV-900
and PD-150), which is quite good enough for good-quality
production work (many are in use for this purpose); defects
do occur - if the audio needs servicing, get it serviced (or
replace the camera, if new). BTW, others have reported
contact with large numbers of VX-2000s, without finding
"audio problems"...; I have two, with quite quiet audio
tracks, and have tried several TRV-900s and a PD150, also
without finding audio problems...; one wonders.....;-)
