Light transmission is not materially affected
by coating on a filter, and even uncoated filters
(like Tiffen and Sony [rebranded Tiffen]) will cause
little flare problem. A good $10 filter (Hoya
single-coated) will perform as well as a $50 filter,
assuming no defects (I've done the tests...;-).
