You are correct, though if you put various "clear" filters on
a white surface (this exaggerates the filter color), you may see
noticeable colors in some of them, which will color slides slightly
(but have little effect on negative film). The warm colors of skylight
filters may be useful with some slide films (especially in some locations),
but ordinarily, you may not want the constant coloration they give you.
BTW, since most lenses absorb most UV, there is no haze reduction
provided by using these filters - clear, UV, and skylight
filters serve most of the time for lens protection
only. Choose a good, inexpensive brand,
preferably a with thin metal rim.
