Not wanting to start the extended thread again on this that really
didn't go anywhere, let me just say that IMO, because of the
Tiffen tendency to cloud and need cleaning, and because of their too-thick rims, I prefer Hoya. But, some odd colors are only
available reasonably priced from Tiffen (I change the rims when
I can on these). I have found the Hoya quality to be uniformly
good, and sufficient for the most exacting use (on long teles,
with no discernable image quality loss) - so I have never felt
the need to pay more than the price of Hoyas for filters, even
for critical use.
