Hi--

We had a conversation some little time ago, when you were kind enough to give me some tips on buying a
TRV900. I had a bit of a computer crash and lost your files; I've just found you again on a newsgroup.

One of the things you mentioned was a phenomenon you called 'green flash' (I think - something green
anyway), and I wonder if you'd be kind enough to go through that with me again?

The camera in question, while over a year old, has allegedly been used for only two hours. Other than a
careful inspection for cosmetic wear and tear I'm not going to be able to verify that before I buy. However,
the vendor states that he is prepared in writing to give me back my money if after a week's trial I am
unhappy with the cam for any reason. Effectively, he's giving me a week's warranty! It would be handy to
have some guidance from a knowledgeable user such as yourself as to what achilles heels to look out for...

Kind regards - and please forgive my [apparent] earlier rudeness

The major common faults I know of with the TRV900 are
- high tendency to flare, and the flare is green instead of white
(white light source)
- noticeable red-green color fringing at wide stops on white/black
edges (a bit, toward corners is normal - and most TVs have more
than the camera)
- intermittence in a sound channel either with the built-in mic, or
with an external mic
- tape crinkle on rewind near the end of the tape (after maybe 100
hours,
with no tape-path cleaning having been done)
- VERY magenta color (some magenta bias is normal, particular in
interiors)
