The footage will be captured in the Mini-DV format, overall
very good, but not without a few shortcomings... The newer
camcorders, BTW, pass through the signal, so recording it
on tape is not necessary.

Yes, under contrasty or low light conditions and with
motion the image of the 3-chippers generally look sharper,
with better detail in the exposure extremes of the scene,
and have fewer motion artifacts (though still some...).

No problem. it is wise to choose for video quality, since
the camcorder still image capability is so limited (not
good for prints, OK for web work...).
