There are size/weight/price differences...;-)
The TRV-9 gives RCA outs with a cord that has a 3-way
mini-pin connector for the camera end - I suspect the
TRV-900 uses the same method...
The VX-1000 has custom controls for picture, which I
have come to depend on (sharpness, saturation, color-balance,
AE-shift, and gain adjust - to make the picture look the way
YOU want...). The tape transport is different, and seems
maybe more substantial in the VX-1000, but this is little
more than a guess (I do like the quick tape load/release
of the TRV-9, though - the VX-1000 sometimes seems to
take forever to load tape...).
The TRV-900 offers progressive scan and the floppy drive,
if you are into capturing/storing stills nicely.
The VX-1000 may offer a bit cleaner picture in low
light, from what I gather from posts (The VX-1000
is FAR better in low light than the TRV-9, unless
you count the "night-shot" feature...;-). The mic
isolation from camera noise is excellent on the
VX-1000, poor on the TRV-9 - and the mic on the
VX-1000 is really excellent. Good luck choosing!
