The "0 lux specification" refers to IR capability with a built-in
rather poor IR light source... The low-light ability of this camcorder is
below average. The analogue input is a really nifty feature (as is
the IR feature for B&W IR shooting, if Sony hasn't disabled that
feature in the TRV-9 you would get...).

About all mini-DV camcorders with the mic in the camcorder body
suffer from "whine" pick-up, though one person reports Sony to have
solved this problem in the new similar 3-chip TRV-900...

The TRV-9 has a first-rate lens (which works well with wide
converters), and is a pleasant package. The color is rather
blue and unsaturated, but copying tapes made with it from
another DV camcorder through a decent video EQ brings color
up to what I like. The swing-out screen is nearly useless
during shooting (this is true of these in general - a poor
feature, I think...), but the small color finder is quite good.
The stabilizer and AF are the best I have seen. But, unless
you are interested in IR video (nice, in B&W mode!),
I would look at the TRV-900 instead...
