Not your fault...;-)
The TRV-9 uses digital image stabilization, but
well. The active area (and picture quality)
does not decrease when the stabilization is
activated (unlike with Panasonic camcorders)
since the TRV-9 CCD has excess pixels to allow
for movement of the image area. What you notice
is the changing of the shutter speed from 1/60th
to 1/100th - in low light, this change will
produce a noisier picture, but in bright light,
it will not...
