The TC301 is generally better, but will not fit most lenses under
300mm, so there is no choice between the two you named. The TC 201
should perform reasonably well by f5.6 (f11 working aperture, with
the two-stop loss with the converter), though you lose AF. For the
new price of the converter, you could buy a used Nikkor 70-210 AF,
75-150E MF, 70-210E MF, or 200mm MF (either of the two "E" zooms
would be my choice).
