The Nikon TC-1 or TC-2 would both fit and meter-couple with the F
body (and the TC200 and TC300 would also fit, but would require
stop-down metering [easily done - just press upward on the meter
coupling pin with a fingernail until you hear two clicks {and f5.6 is
visible in the aperture window of the meter }]), but you may
not be happy with the results - the Nikkor 300mm f4.5 does not
perform well on 2X converters, alas (at least at stops of practical
interest...).
