The various Sony Mini-DV **imaging types** are compared at:

these but the VX2000/PD150 are available for around $1500
or less, and the comparison may give you an idea of some of
the trade-offs with different models... (read the text -
basically, 3-CCDs are better than one; a megapixel-CCD is
not an unmixed blessing...;-). For me, good video picture
and sound are the basics - without those, no combination
of other features is worthwhile...
