The 90mm Sigma is excellent, one of the few "off-brand" lenses I can recommend as fully the equal of the better "on-brand" lenses. I checked
two samples, and both were similar and very fine. My only reservation is that with some combinations of converters and tubes, a flare spot shows in the middle of the frame. The lens goes to 1/2 life size, and an
achromat takes it to 1:1. The achromat is excellent, and works VERY well with many non-macro lenses and video cameras (52mm thread). The 90mm
Sigma is unusually compact, and is a really nice lens. Skip the 50mm -
you will appreciate the greater working distance of the 90mm.
