Senator --

A bit of advice, if I may.......

It seems to me that for the sake of the future
stability of this nation, the weak, irrelevant,
partisan, and unpopular presidential impeachment
case recently brought by the House to the Senate
should be quickly rebuked by the Senate.

Without this rebuke, I fear we will have more
politically-motivated presidential impeachment
attempts whenever an opposition party think they
have sufficient votes to move one through the House.
If this case goes forward in the Senate, the threat
of future presidential impeachment (which should be
reserved for the removal of traitorous, tyrannical,
or incompetent individuals) could be used again as
a political tool, and this practice would seriously
weaken the presidency and the stability of the
constitutional separation of powers.

I believe it would be most prudent and wise for
the Senate to conduct a quick examination of the
evidence - and to bring either a quick finding
of insufficiency of evidence for a trial (if that
is warranted and permitted), or a summary judgement
of acquittal. A quick conclusion of this case would
prevent further political polarization in this
country, and it would be a clear signal to the House
that in the future it should bring only presidential
impeachment cases of sufficient weight to be
prosecutable and widely credible.
