Huh???? These (almost...;-) MUST be different optical designs due to their speed differences, and therefore the number of elements, powers,
placement, etc. will be different! Nikon even offers several optical
designs in lenses of the same speed and FL, such as: 28mm f2.8 AI, 28mm f2.8 AIS, 28mm f2.8 E/AF, 28mm f2.8 AF-D - all with different
optical designs...
