Since the GN for the Nikon flash is within one stop of the Quantum,
an equally powerful, but much cheaper and more versatile flash would be
had by getting a second SB-24, and the TTL shoe and TTL interconnect
cord (this would allow either a flash on camera, and one nearby on a
bracket for more power [if needed!] and larger source size, or would
allow moving one flash away the length of the interconnect cable
(available in 3' and 9' lengths, I think) while keeping TTL on both
(use the flash distances and zoom control [or filter on one flash]
to control light balance between them). Personally, most of the
time I prefer simplicity, and use doubled cameras and flashes to
allow quick film-type changes (and provide a backup...) - one SB-24
has plenty of power for me... And any other flash would be a step
down in convenience/size/versatility/recycle-time (with NiCads).
