Though the SB-21 allows you to turn off one of the two
lights (and it can be a more convenient macro flash
to set up), I prefer a standard TTL flash mounted at the
front edge of the lens (aimed at the macro subject).
For doing this, I use a flat bar, a small ball heat, and
the Nikon TTL remote cord. The resulting light is soft
and broad - and surprisingly natural-looking... BTW, you
can see examples (the high-magnification ones) on my web
page, under "Bugs" (probably in the third section of
photos...).
