One would think that with the above gear (mine is roughly similar in
ability...), that one could get at least a sound-synched, 30fps TINY
preview window going in Premiere 4.2, but no...;-) The Premiere preview
window is useful for checking cuts/transitions (and maybe even for
approximate sharpness...), but not for much else other than sound
transitions/levels. When I want to check part of the video I am working
on, I "make movie" of a stretch of it and ship it out through the
camcorder to a TV for decent viewing. If you know about "DV-Deck",
that can output stretches of video from the timeline, and it simplifies
assembly back to tape of videos longer than about 9 minutes 25 seconds.
