I am not fond of software that is complex, and for which any reading
is required, yet without having used any NLE software previously,
using Premier came fairly naturally. I immediately edited a 14-minute
video, then a fairly complex one-hour extravaganza (well, that DID take
several weeks...! ;-). Hints: try double-clicking on EVERYTHING visible,
and also try the right mouse button on everything... (And, levels can be
adjusted with the thin "rubber band" lines in the audio and special
effects tracks.) Also, effects and filters can be more versatile than
they may first appear (changes can be applied over time). The "motion"
effect is practically a program in itself, and can be used for lots of
different purposes. I have ignored much of what is available within the
program, and have still had more than sufficient tools to do what I
wanted. Have fun with it! ;-)
