Since you are willing to adjust the room to fit the speaker, I would
suggest that the best performance from planar speakers can be had from
a VERY careful setup of a pair (attending to exact placement angle, tilt, positional symmetry and distance from listener - plus choice of speaker
wire and amp for the specific speaker) for a single listening position
close to the speakers (4-6 feet, maximum, from chair front - greater
distances noticeably degrade sound quality). BTW, having tried many
planar speakers (Quads, Magnaplanars [which, for me, lack detail
compared with the Quads and Apogees], various Acoustat versions,
and Apogees), I have settled on Apogee Duettas (at 4' - with a huge
subwoofer of my design) powered by Carver Silver 9t's, bi-wired with
about 15' of 12 gauge zip (with a preamp/phono stage of my design, and
other items that fellow "audiomaniacs" would turn their noses up at the
sight of, until they hear them.....) as the ultimate in naturalness ("slipperyness", detail, transparency, and just plain "realness")
of sound and image.
Hope This Helps
