Been there, done that...

The PC9 has a very pleasant, acceptably
sharp image with good color and color
balance for motion-video; the TRV30 (and
similar) compromise some motion-video
characteristics somewhat (and ultimate
low-light reach) to better the image
sharpness. There are trade-offs, making
one not necessarily better than the other,
but different... For stills, the PC9 is
close to unacceptable, but the megapixel
cameras make good 640x480 images for
screen (not print) use (the larger images
they are capable of making [which would
appear to make them suitable for paper
prints] may actually be lower in quality
since they show more color noise...).
Lately, though, I've been having a lot
of fun shooting nature with a
PC-100 - and I've been getting lots of
good footage! I would NOT use this
sharp and excellent-color camcorder for
shooting clapboard houses, though (the
negative picture artifacts that would
show with this kind of subject would
drive the viewer nuts!;-). For foliage,
landscapes, and bug-closeups, the
megapixel one-chippers perform quite
well. I've also had fun recently shooting
3-D still images with the PC-100. See:

(second two categories) for examples.
