The TRV30 is hardly "large" or "heavy"...! (Gosh, how
our standards change - hech, isn't RCA still touting their
"full-sized" VHS camcorders as if bulk and weight is an
advantage? Which it is, if there is no stabilizer...;-)
I guess the answer is "no", but the stills are useable
as opposed to nearly useless, the picture is quite
different-looking (the 9 being, "smoother", "warmer"
looking; the 30 being "sharper" and "harder" looking
["warm-fuzzy" vs. "hard-analytical" - I like both...;-]).
The 30 image sharpness is impressive, and in that way
looks like a good 3-chipper - but without the good
tonality and better smoothness of a good 3-chipper...
For about the price of a TRV30, the even "larger" and
"heavier" 3-chip TRV900 may be a better buy (fewer
features, but better basic video function quality).
