The lens size has nothing to do with it...
The PC100 had a 1/4" CCD and 1.2 megapixels; the
PC101 (more a replacement for the PC9, with the
PC120 being the replacement for the PC100/110)
has a smaller CCD, with fewer pixels(?)...
Both shot in good, but fairly flat, lighting
should produce good video images and so-so stills,
particularly if you are grabbing the stills from
tape instead of the Memory Stick (which permits
higher-resolution and PS-mode - useful for
stills...).
