The Hoya UV filter (or any other UV filter) works fine, and the
cap fits normally. It would not be a bad idea to try a few 37mm
shades (or use step-up rings with larger-mount shades) to find
one that does not cut the image corners at the (not very) "short"
end of the zoom range (and you may be able to find a slip-on cap
that will fit on the end of the shade, to simplify capping).
