Maybe I'm missing something here, but on my 300MHz
Celeron (OC'd to 450) Raptor PC system with Premiere
5.1a, the preview/rendering ratio with mini-DV with
a *full resolution* cross disolve is about 4.5:1
(a 2-second disolve takes 9 seconds to render - in
*finished* format...). Also, I often do three-camera
edits these days (whew!!! ;-) - this is not hard
in Premiere (though not without gremlins, alas...),
which makes Premiere (with all its bugs) still the
choice for my editing. I also prefer some of its
audio and video filter/effects features to other
editing programs - though this does *not* preclude
the occasional outburst of "Did anyone actually
TRY this program before selling it!?" when
encountering its many bugs... ;-)
