Astigmatism correction of contacts is iffy, and they would not solve
the problem I have: inability to focus my eyes very well, necessitating
a four-distance pair of glasses (2 bifocal lenses, with power off-sets
to provide for 4 focus distances, one of which is optimized for the
camera VF viewing distance - it works very well for most general uses
[all distances from about 1' to infinity are now sharp, without gaps,
except that distance sharpness in low light is compromised], and the
view of the SLR viewing screen is very sharp, making manual focusing
of SLR lenses very easy). I described the pair of glasses I had made
in the hope that others with the same problem (caused by aging, alas,
so most folks are in for it, eventually!) might find the information
useful (though a second pair with distance correction more nearly
the same for both eyes may be necessary for night driving, or for
viewing movies).
Hope This Helps
