Ummmm....., well...., I agree with the second part (at least
as with Sony DIS), but Sony DIS on most models it is on is
also exceptionally good at stabilization without artifacts
(like the "bouncing-ball" or "swimming" effects I have seen
with some OIS), and it does not degrade image quality in
bright light, unlike DIS from other manufacturers. I
actually prefer the DIS operation on my TRV-9 and PC-1
to the OIS on my VX-1000 and especially my VX-2000...
