Nikon has made two 28mm PC's, the older f4, and the current f3.5.
For general use, I prefer the standard (non-PC) Nikkor AI/AIS f3.5
(more even center-to-far-corner performance than other non-PC 28's)
or AIS f2.8 rather than the 28mm PC's, for convenience reasons
(though the f4 version is really excellent [unshifted] by f5.6).
Shifted, I prefer the performance of the f4 version, also, though
the f3.5 is very good unshifted at f3.5). Overall, the 28mm f4 PC
is a 28mm that is hard to beat in performance, except at f4.
(BTW, I consider most test results [like those in photo magazines]
fun reading, but nearly useless in predicting lens performance
in actual use.)
