It is compared with ***many*** other Nikkors, at:

The short of it: wider than f4, I prefered several
alternatives. At f2.8, all the other 100-105 Nikkors
were at least a touch better (near-infinity focus);
at f2, the 85 f1.8 AF (well, all the 85s, actually...),
and 135 f2 (near-infinity focus) were at least a touch
better. This is a very good lens, but not the best
"speed" tele...
