Try rec.video If your question is about NiCads.....:
Uh, DON'T completely discharge camcorder batteries! (One cell will
go first, and get reverse-voltaged by the others - a no-no!) Use them
until the camera stops working, then immediately remove them from the
camcorder to prevent deep discharge. If you want them to go to zero
before recharging, store them for a couple of months before recharging.
It may help then to only partially recharge them, then use them a bit,
then completely charge them (someone may know a lot more about this
than I do - but I have been advised to do this, and it seems to work).
BTW, AA's and other NiCads can be discharged individually by placing
each in a battery holder with a diode and resistor across the terminals.
(Radio Shack for the parts - two 10 ohm 1/4 watt resistors in parallel
to make 5 ohms, in series with almost any diode with the band toward
the negative battery terminal [either one first] drains the battery
down to about .5 volt [leave it overnight, or measure the voltage].)
