I generally master on EX (especially if I must use LP-mode),
and make two copies for security, but I shoot on PR or EX
(or PR-80 long tapes, even in LP-mode, when necessary).
There is no observable short-term difference notable in the
two Sony tape types, but possibly there is a difference for
long-term storage (that 2db better s/n, + ?). I have not
heard reliable information that one type is better than the
other in terms of head wear. For NS: it is recommended that
users never switch tape *brands* due to possible head clogs
from incompatibilities in the tape lubricants - though some
say the tape brands are more compatible now, and if they are
regularly mixed, there are minimal problems. I choose NEVER
to switch brands, though...
