"M76", below (in a detached thread), probably
has the best answer - it is likely a problem
with mixing tape brands. As an aside, when I
did the shooting for the reviews at:
www.David-Ruether-Photography.com/camcorder-comparison.htm,
I shot the same tape in many different models
of several brands of Mini-DV camcorders, and
played them all back from one, without problems
(most of them were nearly new, and all had been
used only with Sony tape).
