Yes, if used often. The head speed in DV is high,
and more than a couple of 5-second passes (with a
30-second "rest" between) in VCR-play mode every
20-40 hours of head time **may** be excessive
and cause undue wear (hard to get specific info
on this, though...).

Do you practice being a jerk, or does it just come
naturally? ;-) You do tend to over-react to posts...
In the original exchange, you berate me for posting
good sense when it comes to using cleaning tapes
with DV gear - without countering with what you
recommend... When I point out that what you have
posted was nonsense (quite true, BTW...;-), you
follow with more malarky. And, BTW, yes I did ruin
the heads when switching from the old to the new
Sony tapes in a camera I use as a deck, when I followed
Sony's 10-second cleaning-tape pass advice three
times after experiencing playback problems at the
time of the switch to the new tape type. I was left
with an obviously "varnished" drum that would not
play tape, and it was replaced (no other tape brand
or version had been in the camera before having
this problem...). As it was, I reported that there
***MAY*** be a problem with mixing the two formulations.
I have not had more than minor dropouts since, when
occasionally playing older-type Sony tapes in gear
that mainly has had the newer type in it. Your
other comments are just plain "off the wall", and
need no other response...;-)
