I posted this before, but here it is again: both flashes MUST be on
front (not rear) curtain synch. or the 2nd flash will not operate
TTL (SB-24,5,6). DO NOT operate one flash TTL, one auto (or both
auto), since they will interact in unpredictable ways giving strange light ratios between them. You may string up to about five flashes
(any NIKON or other brand TTL models) together for TTL operation,
though the multiple shadows would sure bug me. You can use the
zoom head settings, paper over the heads, and subject-to-flash
distances to control lighting ratios among the flashes.
(I am assuming that the first flash is on the camera shoe or
the SC-17 remote cord, and the remaining flashes are connected
together directly with SC-18 cords [or the longer versions of these cords], or are connected together indirectly using the SC-18 cords
and the tripod mount TTL shoes [AS-10] with the SC-18 sockets
[either, or both, systems may be used.)
Hope this helps (and is clearer than the "instruction" books).
