It does work well. I use a stereo 6db pad with a pair of
Sennheiser MKE-300s on the VX2000, and the results are
good with the AGC not being overdriven by the Senns... (Matching

I must also isolate the MKE-300s physically from the
VX2000 (or remove the mechanical "hum" with Cool Edit
noise reduction) - I use modified extender bars to do
this (ones that came with the Sony ECM-908c mics, with
added rubber grommets).
