I like this mic, but on some TRV-900s it is noisey (sounds
like a hum...). The MKE-300 is more directional than the
camcorder built-in mic, but it is not as directional as a
long shotgun mic. I often use these in pairs for "stereo",
but the resulting sound needs EQ. Unfortunately, this does
not work well on some TRV-900s (on mine they are quiet),
and a very loud hum occurs when I tried these on a
VX-2000, alas. It is a good mic for the money (about $175
discounted), and unusually insensitive to wind noise (I
also wrap air-conditioner filter foam around mine to
decrease wind sensitivity).
