Call 1-800-NIKONUS, but there is little that is mysterious on the
MD-4... The button next to the two LED's is the battery test -
two lights, fresh batteries; one light, they are getting weak;
no light, time to replace them soon.... Up top, front: L = lock
(unnecessary to use), S = single frame advance, C = continuous
advance (use only if you like 6-second rolls of film, since this
motor is FAST!). The wheel near the top plate screws it onto the
camera (BUT be sure to remove the cover on the bottom of the F3
under the film cartridge first!. If you open the battery
compartment a bit, you will see a slot into which the cover will
fit for storage.). You can use motor rewind (I wouldn't - it
shortens battery life considerably) by moving both rewind sliders,
or just the one near the battery check for (quiet) manual rewind.
Advance the camera manually to complete the frame wind after
rewinding the film to turn off the LED to save the batteries.
Ignore the frame counter on the motor, unless you want the motor
to stop after a selected number of frames. The MD-4 is a
well-designed, substantial, trouble-free motor.
Hope This Helps
