I have used them for flashes, and for video lights,
but Li-ion are SO much more efficient and dependable,
and SO much lighter, that I would not bother now...
Also, it is my impression that "gel-cels" (VERY cheap
at discount battery stores, BTW...) must be handled
carefully when discharged to prevent damage...

Depending on the camera and voltage needed, I would be
tempted to gang (if that is needed...) Sony NPF-960s
instead...
