ps. if i use the canon up close on someones face will it distort it like in movies like brazil (not sure if you saw
it), where the forehead looks out of proportion etc.

Lens "distortion" is of three types linear (where straight lines off
center
will bow), "wide-angle" (where perspective edge effects are unfamiliar),
and
"distance" (common to all lenses, but only WAs permit seeing enough
angle
of view to see its effects). The Canon WD-58 shows the first, not the
second
(it isn't very wide), and only moderately the third (it isn't very
wide).
